A Week in Review

LB Will Witherspoon loses his mother unexpectedly on Tuesday at age 56. Misses practice all week with an excused absence. Plans on using owner Mr. Bud Adams’ private jet to get back on Saturday and suit up against the Raiders.

T Mike Otto misses all week of practice with a knee injury. He has been ruled out of Sunday’s contest by Jeff Fisher.

QB Rusty Smith changes his No. 7 jersey, the number he wore in high school, to No. 11. That’s the number he donned at Florida Atlantic, as QB of the Owls.

CBs Jason McCourty and rookie Alterraun Verner split reps all week in practice, in preparation of Oakland.

DE William Hayes (knee), LB Colin Allred (ankle), DT Tony Brown (knee), and G Leroy Harris (ankle) are all declared questionable. DE Jacob Ford (back) and WR Justin Gage (thumb) are probable.

It becomes routine, after practice, for the D-linemen to huddle around the Xbox and duke it out on the video game UFC Undisputed. Sen’Derrick Marks, using Chuck Liddell everytime, seems well on his way to being champ for the week but a late charge by Jacob Ford crushes that notion.

Titans name their 4 captains: Vince Young, Ahmard Hall, Stephen Tulloch, and Donnie Nickey.

Talks between the Titans and Redskins heat up about acquiring a familiar foe, Albert Haynesworth . The Titans were believed to be offering a fourth-round pick and Washington was rumored to be seeking a second-rounder. While talks were “serious” they seemed to have died down for now.

Former Titans DE Antwan Odom faces a four-game suspension by the NFL. He tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug, which is a violation of the leagues steroid policy.

Chris Johnson declares himself the best running back in the league and says, “it’s not even close.” After Wednesday’s practice, his Chevy Camaro was placed in the team bubble after leaving his keys in his locker. CJ thinks Coach Fisher had something to do with the prank.

After an illustrious 16-year career, former Titans center Kevin Mawae hangs it up. He played in 241 NFL games, with 238 of them being starts. He was selected to the Pro Bowl eight times. Mawae is currently the President of the NFLPA until March 2012.

Raiders coach Tom Cable refuses to say whether their defense will be in a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme against the Titans.

Oakland wide receiver Chaz Schilens (knee), has been ruled out for Sunday.

Raiders running back Michael Bush was limited in practice on Friday and listed as questionable on the injury report.
