Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt was held out of the second half of Wednesday's practice after his quadriceps and hamstring muscles tightened up on Wednesday.
Also, running back Chris Johnson sat out to rest sore ribs as well on Wednesday.
Britt, who is off to a fast start with 14 catches for 271 yards and three touchdowns, was walking somewhat gingerly on the practice field toward the end of practice.
Coach Mike Munchak did not seem overly concerned about his star receiver's condition.
“Kenny Britt got through about half of practice and just had tightness in his legs and general soreness in his quad,” said Munchak, who said he believed Britt would practice Thursday. “There's nothing there. I just think it's from the game and from what he's been doing the last two weeks. He went through about half of practice and we cut him back. It's nothing that's concerning. I think it was just more general soreness.”
Britt, too, indicated that it was more precautionary than anything else, but said it was the hamstring that tightened up. Britt was bothered by a hamstring injury that cost him nearly all of preseason, but Munchak indicated that Britt's latest soreness was not related to that.
“I had a little tightness in my hamstring that I didn't feel in a while. And as precaution I just slowed it down and backed off. I thought I was past by now,” Britt said. “It kept getting tighter and tighter and wouldn't loosen up for me and it got me a little scared and I backed down.”
Britt has become a focal point of the Titans offense in the early going of the season and had nine receptions for 135 yards in Sunday's 26-13 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
Johnson said the soreness in his ribs isn't serious.
“I'm just a little sore. I got a lot of mental reps and I'll be OK,” Johnson said.
Safety Chris Hope was limited with a shoulder problem. He missed last week's game and said he isn't sure yet about his availability for this week's game.
“It's looking better than it was last week. I'm just taking it one day at a time and working as hard as I can to get back,” Hope said.
Receiver Damian Williams was limited with a hamstring injury, though he did do some scout team work.
Defensive end William Hayes is off the injury report with the shoulder injury that cost him last week.
