McCarthy out with concussion

Colin McCarthy

Tennessee Titans middle linebacker Colin McCarthy will miss Sunday's game against the Houston Texans due to a concussion suffered last week in Jacksonville.

McCarthy has not practiced all week and will miss his fifth game of the season, with the other four games due to a high ankle sprain.

“He's just not quite ready at this point, as much as you'd like to see him ready,” Titans coach Mike Munchak said. “So we're just not going to play him.”

Tennessee will use Tim Shaw in the base package at middle linebacker, according to Munchak, and Will Witherspoon will play in the nickel package.
Receiver Damian Williams returned to practice on Friday and will be questionable with a hamstring injury. Running back Jamie Harper (ankle) and defensive end Derrick Morgan (knee) did not practice Friday and are questionable.

Quarterback Jake Locker (shoulder), tight end Craig Stevens (hamstring) and receiver Kenny Britt (knee) practiced all week and are probable against the Texans.

Linebacker Xavier Adibi (knee) safety Al Afalava (ankle) and linebacker Patrick Bailey (ribs) all practiced fully on Friday and are listed as questionable.
