As reported last week on the TitanInsider Tipsheet, Titans running backs coach Craig Johnson could be on the move to Minnesota.
TitanInsider has learned that the Vikings have apparently contacted Johnson this week about the possibility of joining new coach Leslie Frazier's staff. Frazier and Johnson have been close for a long time.
Johnson spent eight seasons as the quarterbacks coach on Jeff Fisher’s staff but was moved to running backs when Kennedy Pola packed up his bags, right before training camp, and moved to Southern California. It is believed Johnson’s real love is coaching the quarterback position.
If this move were to happen, it might open the door for deposed Titans quarterback Vince Young to put the Vikings atop his radar.
Johnson was responsible for a good part of helping Young retool his game during the time in 2008 and 2009 when he was benched after an in-game meltdown against Jacksonville.
With Brett Favre retiring, we think for good, quarterback will be an obvious need for the Vikings this off-season.
