Brown has procedure on left knee

Tony Brown

Defensive tackle Tony Brown is recuperating from having his left knee cleaned out.

Brown is on crutches after having his second knee procedure in two seasons, but should be ready to go if camps open on time.

“They just went in there and cleaned it out,” Brown's agent Marty Magid said.

Last year, Brown underwent surgery on his right knee, and it bothered him throughout the season, as he began camp on the physically unable to perform list.

Brown barely practiced during the season, as his knees bothered him throughout the season until he was finally shut down and placed on injured reserve. The right knee injury occurred in 2009 when blood from a leg contusion seeped into the knee area, causing swelling. Some swelling persisted during the season.

Asked how the original right knee injury was progressing, Magid said, “All it needed was rest.”
