Titans sign DT Gordon, put Morgan on IR

Derrick Morgan

The Tennessee Titans needed help on the interior of the defensive line because of injuries, so they went out and acquired a player who was with them two years ago.

No, the Titans did not make a deal for Albert Haynesworth, their former star who has been disenchanted with the Washington Redskins.

Instead, the Titans signed journeyman defensive tackle Amon Gordon on Tuesday and placed defensive end Derrick Morgan on injured reserve.

Gordon spent a brief time with the Titans in 2008 while defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson was serving a four-game suspension. He was released just before the Titans started the postseason that year.

Morgan was lost for the season Sunday with a torn ACL in his left knee. Also, the Titans have only three healthy defensive tackles with Sen'Derrick Marks suffering a sprained MCL in Sunday's loss to Denver.

Also, the Titans signed fullback/tight end Joel Gamble to their practice squad and waived fullback Jack Corcoran.

Tennessee still has one more roster move to make when linebacker Gerald McRath is activated from his four-game suspension.
