Fisher dodges questions on VY absences

Titans coach Jeff Fisher, not surprisingly, had “moved on” on Monday from talk regarding quarterback Vince Young missing meetings leading up to the Pittsburgh Steelers game.

TitanInsider reported that Young had missed a meeting Wednesday with an excused absence to attend a breakfast with Steve McNair’s sons. Sources told TitanInsider that Young was later than he was supposed to be in returning from that function, showing up just before practice that day. Sources also indicated that Young had indeed missed a Friday morning meeting that same week, which TitanInsider reported on Sunday.

As it turned out, Young played poorly against Pittsburgh and was benched after the third quarter of the game. He had two interceptions and a lost fumble.

After Sunday’s bounce back win over the New York Giants, 29-10, Fisher was in no mood to discuss the topic when asked.

“You know what is fact is that it was two games ago now. We had a game between that,” Fisher said. “He came back, played well last week and we’ve moved on. That’s what’s fact—that is the only thing that I’m concerned about.”

Young was 10 of 16 passing for 118 yards and one touchdown vs. the Giants. He played mostly a supporting role with just four pass attempts in the first half of the game.
