Titans to work out ex-Panther Brown

Former Carolina Panthers defensive end Everette Brown is scheduled to work out for the Tennessee Titans, according to a league source.

The Titans are thin at the defensive end position, already missing Jason Jones and Derrick Morgan in the season opener due to knee injuries and having William Hayes suffer a shoulder injury in the 16-14 loss at Jacksonville.

Brown was a second-round pick of the Panthers in 2009 out of Florida State and was heralded in part as Carolina's replacement for Julius Peppers.

Brown had 3.5 sacks last year for the Panthers, and has six in his two-year NFL career, but was let go by Carolina on Sept. 4.
