Thursdays' practice wasn't exactly a show of Thanksgiving for Tennessee Titans guard Jake Scott and defensive tackle Shaun Smith, who exchanged several blows following a play in team drills.
Scott managed to rip Smith's helmet off and get in some shot against Smith before teammates separated the two.
“It's team stuff. It's stuff that stays in here. That's Tennessee Titans stuff; it stays in here,” Scott said afterwards.
Smith, whose trash talking often extends even to his own teammates in practice, was uncharacteristically quiet on the subject of the fight.
“I'm just going to leave it out there. Stuff happens at practice, but we'll just leave it out there. We'll look on tape, see what happens and go from there,” Smith said.
Titans coach Mike Munchak said the incident would likely smooth itself over.
“They'll probably need a couple of days to cool down. Usually when offensive and defensive linemen get to pushing and shoving, it takes a couple of days at least to let it pass,” Munchak said. “We don't wan helmets coming off and guys getting hurt. We're lucky no one got hurt.”
