The Tennessee Titans need to get bigger on the interior of their defensive line.
The Titans have not had bigger bodies at defensive tackle since Albert Haynesworth departed after the 2008 season. Kevin Vickerson was with the team until last year, but played lighter than his listed 305 pounds after the 2008 season.
This year, only Tony Brown is listed as more than 300 pounds among the Titans current defensive linemen. Brown was listed at 285 last year, and given his persistent knee problems, one wonders if that has contributed to his issues.
Jeff Fisher acknowledged as much on Monday, as the Titans have been pushed around against the run of late. Tennessee is now ranked 21st vs. the run.
“That’s something that will be addressed,” Fisher said. “Our division is such that you’re going to need some big bodies inside. Especially when you’re playing run games like at Houston and Jacksonville.”
