Wide receiver Kenny Britt who has been struggling with drops and penalties, had a different kind of issue to deal with on Wednesday.
Britt was out of practice to rest his sore ribs and neck, stemming from a hit he took Sunday against the San Diego Chargers when he was upended and landed on his head. Britt returned to the game, but was given Wednesday off due to soreness.
“He didn’t practice today (because of) the fall he took when he went up that caught his legs. He came down and landed on his neck and his shoulder. So, I think he’s got body soreness. He’s just sore, and he wasn’t ready to practice,” Coach Mike Munchak said.
Britt sounded as if he would play this week, though, against the New York Jets, hoping to redeem himself after a zero-catch performance Sunday that included drops and two more penalties.
“I'm definitely playing. I'm planning on practicing tomorrow,” Britt said.
As for other injuries, tight end Delanie Walker was out with a toe injury. He was placed in a walking boot on Monday.
Defensive tackle Sammie Hill was out again with an ankle injury, while linebacker Patrick Bailey was out with a hamstring injury suffered on Sunday.
Tackle David Stewart rested his calf muscle on Wednesday, while running back Shonn Greene remains out after having his knee scoped last week.
