With Jeff Fisher now in as the St. Louis Rams head coach, it appears that one of the next hires by the Rams organization could have Tennessee Titans ties as well.
Lake Dawson, vice president of football operations with the Titans, interviewed last week with the Rams for their general manager’s spot.
And, according to what a source tells TitanInsider, Dawson has a good chance of landing in St. Louis and working with Fisher.
One of the things that swayed Fisher toward the Rams and away from the Miami Dolphins was the opportunity to have more say in personnel, something that Dolphins owner Stephen Ross was reportedly was unwilling to do with general manager Jeff Ireland already in place there.
Dawson has overseen the pro personnel side of the Titans roster for the past five seasons, since arriving in 2007 along with general manager Mike Reinfeldt from the Seattle Seahawks organization. Of course, that means four seasons of working with Fisher.
Dawson would be a first-time general manager, which would mean that he could lean on Fisher’s experience in that regard, giving the coach the say in personnel he desires.
The Rams had also sought permission to interview Titans director of player development Ruston Webster for the general manager’s spot, but that appears to be as far as that progressed.
