Michael Griffin’s one-game suspension for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Raiders tight end Mychal Rivera was upheld on Tuesday by arbiter Matt Birk.
Griffin will sit out this Sunday’s game at Indianapolis and be replaced by George Wilson in the starting lineup.
The NFL announced Monday that Griffin would face a one-game ban for the hit as a repeat offender. Griffin will forfeit just over $200,000 in salary (1/17th of his $3.5 million base) and will not be allowed at the Titans facility until Monday, Dec. 2.
George Wilson is likely to start in Griffin's place Sunday against the Colts. The Titans left a roster spot open as well and could potentially add some depth back at the safety position.
