Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger has delayed his chemotherapy for 48 hours, and there is still a chance he could call the offensive plays on Sunday when the Titans host the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Heimerdinger, who was diagnosed with cancer last week, delayed the start of his chemo treatments for “good reasons.”
“Mike's treatment was postponed until Wednesday for good reasons,” Titans coach Jeff Fisher said. “He will be gone the entire day Wednesday and will probably be away from the building for several hours on Thursday and Friday, but he will be here through late tomorrow night to help put the game plan together.”
As far as how things will be handled regarding the play-calling, Fisher said the Titans will see how Heimerdinger feels before making any decision,m but there is still the possibility that he could be on the sideline calling plays as usual.
“The rest of us will install and manage practice, and we'll see how he feels toward the weekend as far as the play-calling duties will unfold,” Fisher said.
Last week, Fisher indicated that quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains would call plays if Heimerdinger is unable to.
