A league source indicated to TitanInsider, that Tennessee Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan might avoid a suspension from his fight with Houston Texans receiver Andre Johnson.
However, no final decision has yet been made by the NFL on the matter.
“There have been a couple of meetings with league officials, and nothing is etched in stone, but I'm hearing that Cortland may not be suspended,” the source indicated.
Even if he avoids a suspension, Finnegan is still expected to receive a hefty fine.
A report emerged earlier in the day Monday that Johnson would avoid being suspended as well, even though he threw three punches caught on video in the melee that occurred in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 20-0 Texans victory.
Finnegan did not throw a punch, but was warned by the NFL about his behavior on the field after an incident with Denver Broncos offensive lineman Chris Kuper in week four.
