Terry and I will make our predictions about the upcoming Titans game. Also, we will invite a former player, a member of the media, and a TitanInsider board member to participate.
Darren McFarland from TitanInsider:
The last meeting between these teams was not one for the archives. In week 4 of the 2006 season, Vince Young got his first career start at LP Field. Albert Haynesworth took out his frustrations on Cowboys center Andre Gurode, by stomping on his head, and the Titans lost 45-14.
The Titans have won 10 consecutive games against NFC opponents. The Cowboys are coming off a bye week and as healthy as a football team can be in the NFL.
Derrick Morgan was lost for the season last week, and it looks as if Sen'Derrick Marks will not be able to give it a go on Sunday. Leroy Harris is in serious jeopardy of playing, which means a very inexperienced Velasco will fill the void. CJ has had nighmare games against the 3-4 defense this year and I'm not sure that changes this Sunday. Probably a long day for the Tennessee Titans.
FINAL SCORE: COWBOYS 31 TITANS 17
Terry McCormick from TitanInsider:
Dallas is coming off a bye, and cannot afford to give away a home game to a middle-of-the-pack AFC team. Tennessee needs to establish Chris Johnson early, but the Titans have had troubles against the 3-4. Therefore the onus may be on VY to come up big in his home state. Can he?
FINAL SCORE: COWBOYS 26 TITANS 17
This week we have asked former eighth-round pick, from Ball State, safety Blaine Bishop. Bishop was drafted in 1993 by the Houston Oilers. Bishop was selected to the Pro Bowl four times in his career in 1995, 1996, 1997 and 2000. Blaine finished his career with 743 tackles, 5 interceptions and 15.5 sacks. He played with the Oilers/Titans until 2001 and finished up his career in Philadelphia, with the Eagles, in 2002.
Blaine can be heard daily on 3-Hour Lunch, on 104.5 The Zone, from noon till 3:00pm. He also handles the Titans pre and post game duties, on Titans Radio, with former teammate Kevin Dyson.
FINALSCORE: COWBOYS 31 TITANS 24
Our Media member this week is Cory Curtis. Cory can be seen doing the sports nightly on News 2 WKRN. Also, Cory has been working the play-by-play duties, during the preseason, with former Titans running back Eddie George. He also can be seen on stage during the weekly Jeff Fisher Live show.
This is a hard game to call because neither team has been terribly consistent at this point. The Cowboys are coming off of a bye and who knows how they’ll react to it. The Titans simply have to do more with their wide receivers down field to open things up for Chris Johnson, having said that Vince Young hasn’t always played his best football against 3-4 defenses. Jerry Jones made a point of saying earlier this year the Cowboys were not the “tougher” team, that will be put to the test Sunday. I truly believe the Titans do not relish the “dirty” talk, but do understand their style is making a difference and has teams thinking before kickoff. Enough meandering… Titans shut down the run game again and attack downfield a little bit more, but the homefield does the trick for Dallas in a tough one. That’s my pick, but let me add this, the Cowboys line has issues and if the Titans can score defensively they WIN the game.
FINAL SCORE: COWBOYS 20 TITANS 17
Our TitanInsider board member this week is Todd Hurst . He can be found on the board as Blue1960. Todd's favorite Titans player, is running back Chris Johnson.
The Titans can't afford to go 2-3 on the season with a loss. Dallas is overrated and will find a way to lose like they always do with Romo.
FINAL SCORE: TITANS 24 COWBOYS 21
