Friday injuries: Kern tweaks hamstring

Titans punter Brett Kern tweaked his right hamstring and did not practice on Friday in preparation for the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday night.

As Kern exited the practice field, he was bending over and doing some stretching under the supervision of strength and conditioning coach Steve Watterson. His injury is not believed to be serious.

Both running back Chris Johnson and receiver Damian Williams returned to the practice field Friday for the Tennessee Titans.

Johnson had been given Thursday off by Coach Jeff Fisher to rest a sore thigh, while Williams was absent because of illness.

In addition, defensive tackle Tony Brown (knee) was back on the practice field, but left the field about 20 minutes before the end of the session. Brown has been on a one-day per week regimen since the start of the season due to a surgically repaired knee.

Receiver Justin Gage (hamstring) missed practice again on Friday.

As for the day off, Johnson said it was beneficial

“It was all right. I was excited to get back out there on the field with my teammates and go to work,” Johnson said. “It helped me out to take a day off.”

Cornerback Jason McCourty practiced again with his broken forearm. Fisher indicated that while he has been cleared to practice, he has not yet been cleared for contact work.

Defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks (knee) practiced fully as did guard Leroy Harris (ankle).
