New Tennessee Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt continues to assemble his first staff with the club, making two more hires on Saturday.
As expected, Whisenhunt named Ray Horton as the Titans defensive coordinator. Horton had been the defensive coordinator for Whisenhunt during the coach's final two years in Arizona, and then was hired by the Cleveland
Browns for that same position in 2013. The Browns fired head caoch Rob Chudzinski on the final day of the regular season, and the team later decided to allow members of Chudzinski's staff to interview for other positions if they wished.
The Titans also hired UCLA defensive coordinator Lou Spanos as linebackers coach. Spanos coached with Whisenhunt when both were assistants in Pittsburgh on Bill Cowher's staff. Horton also spent time with the Steelers during that era.
The hiring of Horton means the Titans will be changing their system to a 3-4, which means that much of the personnel will be shifted and revamped, as well as some pieces added.
Whisenhunt is likely to continue to interview and complete his staff, likely filling some holes by interviewing some candidates next week at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.
