As expected, the Titans placed defensive tackle Tony Brown on injured reserve and have signed Kevin Matthews from the practice squad to the 53-man active roster.
Matthews, an undrafted center from Texas A&M, will make his debut against the Houston Texans on Sunday. Matthews' father, Bruce Matthews, spent 19 season with the Titans and is currently an assistant coach with the Texans.
"I felt I've worked hard all season and I've been getting better. It's something I've been wanting for a long time and hoping that would happen," Kevin Matthews said. "But coming in as a free agent, that's something that doesn't happen a whole lot if you're on the practice squad this long. But it's exciting, and I'm eager to go out there and show them they made the right decision."
Brown, who signed a three-year, $17 million extension last offseason, has battled knee problems this year and was inactive for three games sandwiched around the bye week.
Brown might need surgery on his left knee after having his right knee bother him for most of the season.
"This is the other knee," Coach Jeff Fisher said. "He may have some minor arthroscopic surgery, but we’re going to let it settle down and evaluate it."
