Titans vs Steelers Panel Picks

Every week on the site, Terry and I will make our predictions about the upcoming Titans game. Also, we will invite a former player, a member of the media, and a TitanInsider board member to participate.

Darren McFarland from TitanInsider:

I'll start with the obvious. Dennis Dixon, in place of Ben Roethlisberger, has to count for something on the scoreboard. Plus, no T Max Starks and DT Casey Hampton only adds to the uphill climb for Pittsburgh on Sunday.

The Steelers "D" has only yielded ONE 100-yard rusher [Ray Rice, Dec. 2009] in the last 35 regular season games. CJ has faced the Steelers twice in his career. Third time will be a charm, as he will get over the "100 hump" this time, keeping the consecutive games streak alive. Jason Jones will tally two sacks, as the Titans up their record at home to 9-1 against Pittsburgh since moving to the state of Tennessee.

FINAL SCORE: TITANS 23 STEELERS 17

Terry McCormick from TitanInsider:

No Ben Roethlisberger, plus other Steeler injuries, should give the Titans an edge. However, Vince Young has to play like he did against the Raiders and be smart with the football.

FINAL SCORE: TITANS 20 STEELERS 17

This week we have asked former first-round pick [13th], from Illinois, LT Brad Hopkins. Hopkins was drafted in 1993 by the Houston Oilers and played with the Oilers/Titans until 2005. He wore No.72 for 194 games and 13 seasons in the NFL. He was selected twice to the Pro-Bowl in 2000 and 2003. B-Hop can be heard on sports radio 560 WNSR.

The Steelers are without Ben Roethlisberger, and the Titans secondary and defensive front are playing well enough that they should be able to force Dennis Dixon into some mistakes.

FINALSCORE: TITANS 24 STEELERS 14

Our Media member this week is Hope Hines. Hope is the Sports Director at News Channel 5, and can be seen delivering the sports each evening at 6:00 and 10:00. Hope has racked up 6 broadcast Emmy Awards over the last 27 years at Channel 5.

Because this is the game when the offense opens up more of the playbook. I think we will see some new wrinkles in the passing game with VY doing some different things with receivers...That means CJ will have more opportunity to run because once the Titans have some success passing the ball, the pressure will be on the Steelers linebackers and secondary. Look for VY and CJ to run the option more than usual. And I look for the Titans defensive line to have a solid day.

FINAL SCORE: TITANS 17 STEELERS 10

Our TitanInsider board member this week is Jeremy Bennefield. Jeremy was the INAUGURAL member to TitanInsider on our launch day of August 20th. Jeremy is an avid Titans fan who is sad that No.53 Keith Bullock is no longer with the team. That is his favorite Titan of all-time. He can be seen on the board as poppinfreshboy.

Kenny Britt will be the secret weapon for the Titans, as VY will have to pass for 250-yds this week.

FINAL SCORE: TITANS 28 STEELERS 17
