Jeff Fisher said after Sunday's latest loss that he would “take into consideration” lineup changes.
Jared Cook appears to be in line for more playing time as the season winds down for the Titans.
On Monday, Fisher hinted that perhaps now is the time for Jared Cook to begin to get more playing time.
Cook had four receptions for the second consecutive week, going for 47 yards in the 17-6 loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars. So in the past two games, Cook has had eight of his 13 receptions this season.
With the Titans in a five-game skid, giving Cook a longer look might be in the offing beginning on Thursday night with Indianapolis.
In both games, all of Cook's receptions have come in the second half. Most of his playing time Sunday came after two dropped passes by starting tight end Bo Scaife in the second half.
“He'll get some (opportunities). It just means we'll rotate him around,” Fisher said. “We'll put Bo and Jared on the field, just like we put Bo and Craig (Stevens) on the field.”
Fisher said he has noticed Cook becoming more confident.
“I think it started with his special teams,” Fisher said. “He's running around, playing physical, using his speed, taking advantage of his athletic ability, and I think that in itself has allowed him to become more confident in the offense.”
As for Scaife, Fisher said he would like to see him shake off the first drop, which could have been a touchdown, and focus on making the next play.
“Bo Scaife doesn't need to dwell on the drop. He doesn't drop it on purpose, but he needs to come back and make the next catch. That was the points that were made this morning,” Fisher said.
In addition to Cook, there is also the possibility that receiver Kenny Britt could be back in action Thursday night against the Colts. Britt suffered a hamstring injury against San Diego on Oct. 31 and has been out since.
If Britt returns, it could cut into Randy Moss' playing time. However, Fisher said Monday there was room for both on the field.
“We don't have enough balls to go around, but there's enough room to put them on the field,” Fisher joked.
