Morgan fined $7,500 for Flacco hit

Derrick Morgan

Tennessee Titans defensive end Derrick Morgan has been fined $7,500 by the NFL for his hit on Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco in Sunday's 26-13 Titans victory.

Morgan hit Flacco in the back while the quarterback was on the ground after fumbling the football and recovering it. Tennessee rookie defensive tackle Karl Klug was the first player to hit Flacco while he was on the ground, and Morgan followed a split second later, drawing a 15-yard penalty in the process. That penalty helped keep alive a drive that led to a Ravens field goal.

"I'm definitely appealing it,” said Morgan. “I don't have a problem with paying the fine if I feel like I'm wrong, but it was one of those things where it was kind of a split-second thing. Even one of their offensive linemen was looking at the replay and saying, 'Man, that was a tough call.'”

Morgan was playing in his first regular-season game in nearly a year after undergoing two knee surgeries, after tearing the ACL in his left knee last October.
