The Tennessee Titans are working to re-sign kick returner Darius Reynaud before the free agency talking period opens on March 9.
Players may accept inquiries now from other clubs on the weekend prior to free agency officially opening on March 12.
A source with knowledge of the situation indicated that Reynaud, who was a two-time AFC Special Teams Player of the Week in 2012, is one of the team’s priorities to bring back to the roster.
Reynaud had two punt returns for touchdowns and a kickoff return for a score as well after being signed as a street free agent last year. Reynaud averaged 13.2 yards per punt return and 23.4 yards per kickoff return and also had no lost fumbles last season.
He had previously played for the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants, but was out of the NFL in 2011.
In addition to working to bring back Reynaud, Tennessee re-signed defensive end Keyunta Dawson, who was being counted upon last season to be a situational pass rusher. However, he suffered a hamstring injury in the third game of the year and was placed on injured reserve.
Tennessee opted not to use the franchise tag on Cook by Monday’s deadline, vastly increasing the likelihood that he will explore the market for a deal someplace else.
