RB Whiting embraces uphill battle

Running back Daryl Whiting knows he will have to make a quick impression in order to make the Tennessee Titans roster as an undrafted free agent.

The 6-3, 235-pound running back from Fordham University knows the running back spot is crowded with Chris Johnson entrenched as the starter, Javon Ringer behind him and second-year running back Jamie Harper waiting in the wings.

Because of his size, Whiting sees himself as the “smash” part of the equation similar to the old “Smash and Dash” deal with Johnson and former Titan LenDale White.

But if it means increasing his odds of making the roster, then Whiting says he will even try to learn the fullback position. The Titans have not made any effort to re-sign Ahmard Hall but do have Quinn Johnson to play the position.

"I've never played fullback." Whiting said. "However, I'll do anything the coaches ask me to do."

Whiting rushed for 2,131 yards on 476 attempts and 14 touchdowns while at Fordham University.
