  • I'll be the guy who doesn't ask a Randy Moss question.

Terry, the offensive line (especially the interior guys) seems to have dropped off a bit from their performance over the last couple of years. Do you think the Titans will draft an interior lineman in an early round next year to push the starters? If so, who do you think that lineman would be in line to replace? Personally, I'd love to see Eugene Amano back in his old role of backup guard and center. Your thoughts?

    Thanks!

  • Now that David Thornton is off the PUP list, what are your thoughts on him going forward? He obviously won't replace the starters and won't be resigned at the end of the season, but Fish says he could be used on special teams this season. Is he practicing at full strength now?

They are really high on Leroy Harris, although I think he can be a free agent next season. I think part of the issue is that Amano is still getting used to the center calls and the position. Mawae was so savvy and knew everything to do even if he had lost a little bit physically. They are set at tackle and their M.O. is usually to draft a middle to late round project and let Mike Munchak develop him.

He just started practicing last week. They have three weeks to decide what to do with him. With Jamie Winborn out, I could see him being activated and being the fourth LB and playing on special teams. It really depends on his health, which I think we will see this week how he fares to practicing day after day.

  • Terry, who's the odd man out with the Moss addition?

It'll be either Hawkins or Gage first, then when Britt becomes back, both could be out of the mix.

  • Terry, anyone outside of Nate Washington voice their displeasure of the Moss claim?

No, not that I've heard. I don't think Nate was really being critical. He was asked the question before the Titans got Moss, and he responded the same way the defensive linemen did when they were asked about the possibility of Albert Haynesworth coming back. Only this time, what he said can be twisted to look worse because Moss actually did come here.

  • Terry, do you think the Titans win the division this year? Does the addition of Randy Moss affect your answer?

    Terry,

What do you project from Moss over the second half of the season numbers-wise? I know he has had some big days, but he's also known to finish with 2 catches for 8 yards.

What do you think the Titans can/should expect realistically?

    Kevin Ryan

  • Terry, any chance of the Titans talking an extension for Moss if he comes to play the rest of the season?

Perhaps and yes. The Colts are still the team to beat because of Manning, but their injury situation is getting ridiculously bad. The Titans need to split with Indy, sweep Jacksonville and Houston. It's doable, and that might be their only route to the playoffs. Between the Titans and Colts in the South, Patriots and Jets in the East and Steelers and Ravens in the North, a pretty good team is going to get left out of the AFC playoffs.
On the other hand, the NFC West winner might go 7-9.

  • Terry, who benefits the most from the Moss move? CJ, VY, the Titans receivers or the Titans tight ends?

If can catch 30-35 passes and get three or four TDs, I think that would be a strong enough output over the second half of the season.

That's the multi-million dollar question, Dan. It hinges on a lot of things: How well Moss produces, how much he fits into the locker room and buys into the system, and how much money he wants. Not to mention the upcoming labor strife.

I don't rule it out, but I think it is a wait-and-see proposition.

CJ should be the primary beneficiary, and assuming the Titans use Moss somewhat the way he has been used in the past, the underneath receivers like Damian Williams (or Washington) in the slot and Bo Scaife at H-back should benefit from it.

  • Thanks to everyone this week for the questions. We'll adjust the time for next week and let you know, since I will be on my way back from Miami on Monday morning. We should have plenty to talk about with Randy Moss' Titans debut.
