  • Terry,
What are the Titans options with VY? How much trade value does he have?

    Bisons11

  • Anything from Babin on his blow up? Apologies? Excuses? Punishment?

What are the odds that Simms starts over Smith this weekend if they pick him up?

    Kevin Ryan

  • All the talk has been about VY which is understandable, but the loss yesterday can also be laid on the defense or lack there of. They can't continue to play a zone defense with no pass rush. I realize the other teams are using max protection on blocking but a pro quarterback can pick a zone apart with no pressure. Is their any conversation about our defensive coordinator? They have also have shown no discipline with their penalties.

The trade deadline has passed, so their options right now are to keep him, place him on waivers to release him or put him on injured reserve and make their decision after the season. They could always do like Tampa Bay did Keyshawn Johnson a few years back and just deactivate him each week and tell him not to show back up.

    Terry,

What do you think the biggest issue is with the defense? Lack of leadership? Too many penalties? On the field too long because the offense is struggling?

  • Terry, any clue as to what Bud is thinking now?

Babin claims he was celebrating Verner's would-be interception the sideline when a guy shoved him and he pushed him back. He said the guy's helmet was unbuckled and his helmet went flying off making it look worse than it was. Not sure I completely buy that explanation or not.

Smith will start. I think he gives them a better chance than a guy who has been on the street all season in Simms, who the Titans at least have confidence in because he knows their offense.

You are right. The defense has been terrible most of the season except when they get turnovers. They simply do not make adjustments and guys like Hope and Finnegan are being exposed in the secondary when they have to cover too long. This falls directly on Cecil and the defensive staff to adjust better in-game.

  • Terry, who are some other names if Chris Simms doesn't return to Nashville?

All of those, but I think in the end, it lies with the defensive staff. It appears they are not adjusting enough to what teams are doing not doing enough to cover their own shortcomings. When was the last time you saw them shoot a linebacker through a gap on a blitz like they were early in the season before they knew they had a decent pass rush?

  • Has the organization been pleased with Randy Moss and his work ethic so far?

The reason I ask is that on Rusty Smith's INT yesterday, Moss just stood there and watched Phillip Buchanon return the ball 43 yards. I thought I also saw Fisher call him out on the sideline earlier in the game.

Terry, anything to read into Fisher pushing back his Monday presser an hour?

Sounds like it is time being alloted to talk to Bud and to get their ducks in a row before they face the music.

I think Simms will be the guy, but since you asked - Joey Harrington, JaMarcus Russell and guys of that ilk that have washed out. They might also bring a young QB to the practice squad for insurance as well.

  • Terry, how big of a loss is Jason Jones if he's out an extended period of time?

    PapaTitan

  • I think for the most part, they are happy with him. There was one route he gave up on when Smith nearly threw the other pick. But you know what you're getting with Randy and you have to take the good with the bad. The crazy thing is how quickly this thing has gone south and Randy really has nothing to do with it.

Terry, how big of a loss is Jason Jones if he's out an extended period of time?

Huge. He has been their best interior lineman on defense. If he is out, the defense will get gashed inside like they did yesterday more often.

  • Terry, should the Titans look to beef up their defensive line in the off-season? I ask because the Redskins offensive line had their way with them yesterday.

The Titans have a certain style of play that they like from their d-line.They like the quicker, up the field rushers. Haynesworth has really been the only exception to that rule. I wouldn't look for that to change.

  • Terry, any other injuries of note outside of VY and Jason Jones?

Griffin said he hurt his ankle, but apparently was well enough to chase down VY in the tunnel. Dave Ball had ice on his hip, but don't think it was a serious injury.

  • Terry, why didn't the Titans feed CJ the ball in OT?

Great question. I would have, especially with an untested rookie at QB. They seem eager to get away from the run at times, even when the passing game doesn't have a good rhythm.
