TitanInsider: Any closer and you'd be in the huddle.
OK, get those questions in.
Terry, any names come to mind to fill in for Kerry while he's out?
Terry, where the Titans ready to play yesterday or not?
The two most obvious ones are Chris Simms and Patrick Ramsey. There are two X factors at work. First, it will depend on how long Collins might be out. Second, it also depends on the Dolphins situation. They may have lost 2 QBs for the year yesterday, and either Simms or Ramsey might want to go there for a better longer term opportunity.
It sure didn't look like it. I knew they were in trouble in the first half because they had ample opportunities to have at least a touchdown maybe more lead at halftime. But they kept squandering good field position, and eventually it bit them in the second half.
Terry, does VY still have some growing up to do?
Yes, I believe so. This Fox report wasn't any breakthrough news. Jeff Fisher admitted last Monday that Young was out of town. Usually players who have injuries don't leave during the bye. They stay and rehab. The fact that VY did should have been a sign that he was OK. But then he didn't start. I think his toughness can be called into question on this one.
Terry, think there will be a decision on Thornton this week?
Yes, I will ask about that today. The fact that he didn't practice last Friday is not an encouraging sign that he is close to returning.
Terry, what happened to the Titans pass rush yesterday?
I talked to Jason Babin about it, and he said the Dolphins do a good job of slide protecting and max protecting to help neutralize a team that heads up field like the Titans do with their d-linemen. I was surprised that the Titans didn't send more blitzes to help counter that.
Terry, why didn't the Titans run more especially with CJ having a good day?
That's a good question. CJ was having a solid day, and then when they threw the ball, they targeted the same old guys like Gage, Scaife and Washington instead of putting the ball toward Moss. If I'm making the calls, I'm going to live and die with my two best offensive weapons _ CJ and Moss.
With seven games to go do you see Kerry being placed on IR? He has a calf injury and a torn tendon in his finger, at 37 I don't see how he can get healthy enough to return. It makes sense to go ahead and IR him and use his roster spot.
That is certainly an option. It depends on the severity, of course, but I've heard it doesn't look good.
