Babin back with Washburn in Philly

Babin returns to Philadelphia one year after excelling with the Titans with 12.5 sacks.

TitanInsider: Any closer and you'd be in the huddle.

  • We have a hole at DE, if he didn't get much interest from the Titans - I can only guess that either we didn't think he could repeat his 12/5 sack season or that he doesn't fit in the new d-line (emphasis on bigger, run stopping ends than sleek up-field pass rushers).

At least that's what I'm going to tell myself to try and make myself feel better when I look at the depth chart and see William Hayes and Bum-kneed Derrick Morgan as starters.

  • I think he is "system player" who did well because of how Wash played him. His past shows that he has to be in a specific system in order to thrive. I hope it works for him with the Eagles.

You are dead on. The Titans were afraid to pony up big money and really didn't have an interest once Gray and Rocker took over and Washburn departed. Had Wash stayed, Babin would probably have been re-signed with the Titans.

  • To be honest Babin had one good year. That happened to be with a Washburn coached Dline. He's got a better chance of success in Philly with Wash than he would have had here. Not sure how effective he would've been here this year.

Would it be worth a shot looking at getting Osi from the Giants? That drama seems to be leading to the assumption they're goign to try to move him. If the Pats got Fat Albert for a 5th what would it take for Osi?
