Banks at S?

  • Banks projected as top corner alongside milliner. He's tall and rangy good tackler. How would he project at safety in our scheme? We need a ball hawk at safety more than a big thumper IMO.

    Any thoughts?

  • I like Banks (though I prefer Milliner slightly more) and feel he could be a really nice player in the NFL. He could end up a safety with his size and instincts, but I think if you are going to take a player that high in the draft then you draft him as a CB first and foremost. If he can shift to safety in a few yrs then great, but for now you take him for what he can do for you immediately.

With this in mind, if I drafted Banks I would take a safety later in the draft. There are some decent safeties in this draft class......there really aren't any crazy, special high draft worthy picks, but there are some nice prospects from rds 2-7. Or sign a nice FA safety.

  • I respectfully disagree. Griffin is considered a ball hawk, and we could do without another one of those types.

Verner said we have no attitude on Defense and he's right, a thumper would give us some attitude. Jonathan Cyprien would be a nice addition to our secondary. He'll be overlooked and will be there for us in the 3rd/4th round.
