If I am the Titans I put him at the top of the list. He'd be a great short-term solution IMO

  • I think he has to be at this point.

The Titans might have to throw in the practice bubble to make that deal work, since the Bengals don't have an outdoor practice facility.biggrin

  • Sorry guys, but I completely disagree. Carson Palmer is done. I have several friends who are big time Bengals fans, and they are ready for him to move along. Didn't the Bengals lose 11 straight games this year? Why would we want that in Nashville? At this point, I'd put him in the same category as Jake Delhomme.

  • Wow. Jake Delhomme, that's pretty sad company right there. I still think Palmer would be OK with a change of scenery The Bengals are one of those organizations that most times breeds failure just because of the way they are run on the cheap. Some guys have left there and done well, like Corey Dillon.

  • Mike Brown has supposedly turned down Palmer's request for a trade.

  • Okay, let's look at it this way. In what ways is Palmer better than Kerry Collins? And I don't mean that to be a compliment to Kerry. They both have good arms, but they are also statues in the pocket who make too many mistakes.

To tell you the truth, I'd actually be fine with the Titans bringing in Palmer for a year. The best case scenario would be for him to lead us to a 4-12 record, Fisher is not retained, and we draft Andrew Luck #1.

  • i could see us takin a qb this year to be mentored by Palmer for a year or 2 before the reins are passed...i just hope we wouldnt b obligated to bring in his brother, jordan,, it seems like theyre a package deal

I've got to disagree here. Palmer threw for nearly 4,000 yards this season and while he did throw 20 INTs (26 TDs), he also had 586 pass attempts, a ridiculously high number and with a Bengals team that was behind all the time with opponents knowing they were going to throw.

Plus, Palmer is 31 years old, seven years younger than Kerry. There are lots of good QBs who are just hitting their stride when they hit their early 30s.

Sure, he threw for almost 4,000 yards, but that doesn't impress me. Lots of starting QB's surpass the 3,500 yard mark these days (12 this year; 22 surpassed 3,000 yards). I just can't get over his terrible mistakes. Didn't Palmer throw five pick-sixes this year? I know he had two against the Steelers in a game in which the Bengals lost 23-7 despite not allowing the Steelers to score an offensive touchdown. That was the story of their year. They would play teams close, but mistakes killed them, and a lot of those are Carson's fault. Unless Fisher suddenly decides to quit playing conservatively, then shouldn't we target a QB who is unlikely to throw 20+ interceptions and several pick-sixes?

Bengals fans are used to mediocrity and disappointment, yet they are ready to run Carson out of town. If Carson isn't good enough for the lowly Bengals fans, then I don't think our fans will be happy with him, either.

  • Palmer would be a big upgrade from what we currently have at QB. I would have no problem with getting palmer and draft a QB to learn the game from him. Something we should have done with Vince. Palmer knows the game and knows how to read a defense.

  • Palmer is not an all-pro. But he he is the best QB that could be available by trade. I have no doubt that he'll throw fewer ints in the Titans offense.

The question is will Palmer stick to his guns on his retirement threat. If he does I think the Titans have a shot to nab him with a 3rd round pick.

And Bengals fans are at a huge disadvantage when judging the merits of individual players. That organization has been the twilight zone for a long while now.

Agree with this. Plus, Palmer isn't your typical Bengal that wants out of town, i.e, either who has a poor selfish attitude like Chad Johnson or Carl Pickens or a serious criminal issues like so many of those guys they've drafted over the last several years.

I think Palmer just wants out of the circus, so to speak and to get a fresh start.
