The front office has been doing a decent job filling in the holes so far. If they have a good draft, then even more weight falls on Jake to perform. With the coaching staff's back against the wall, Jake's is to. If they don't play well (which likely means that Jake didn't play well) and we get a new coaching staff, they will most likely want to start over with a new QB.
So, this is a make or break yr for Locker.
I think Jake will end up being a good QB. Now that he'll have better blocking and hopefully a better running game he should be fine. It's not his fault he got hurt because of the piss poor line in front of him last year. I thought it was pretty evident when he came in (when healthy) that he could make plays and win some games for us.
I agree. I think he'll do just fine, but lets say that he either has an average yr.
Say, perhaps. 3,500 yds passing, 150 yds running. 25 total TDs, 15 ints. with about 58% completion.
Those aren't necessarily bad numbers and you could get an indication of how he will be in the future, but they it likely won't be enough to save him. What I mean is that a new coaching staff is likely going to want to start over with a new QB in this case.
Obviously if Locker has a great season or the staff is retained then the point is moot.
