How long will the starters play Thursday night?

  • Into the second half?

247Sports: Your team all the time.

  • Doubt it. Want to avoid injuries, especially since the Titans are playing for the third time in like 11 days or something.

    Your team. All the time.

They've kind of changed their philosophy on that the last couple of years because it's nearly two weeks between the final preseason game and the season opener. I look for the starters to play one series in the third quarter against the Saints. Used to, they would do that in the third preseason game, but now they seem to want to do it in the last one instead.

TitanInsider: Any closer and you'd be in the huddle.

I believe its going to depend on who the player is. After the abysmal showing of the Titan offense I expect to see Young into the 3rd quarter. Probably not more than one or two series, just so he can get into a flow with his receivers.

Chris Johnson will probably play one quarter, but then Ringer will come in and finish off the half.

Justin Gage and Nate Washington will probably play into the second quarter as well. But they need to stay healthy and will probably be pulled.

The TItans seem to be trying to force Kenny Britt into becoming a playmaker, so I expect him to play with Young into the third quarter and maybe even further.

On the defensive line, the entire line may play into the 4th quarter (With the exception of Jason Jones, Derrick Morgan, and William Hayes if he plays). This is only because the backups will be playing in the first quarter as well. Its just the way Jim Washburn runs his DLine.

Verner and McCourty will probably go into the 3rd quarter.

The rest of the defense will probably go at least until the half, maybe until the 3rd quarter depending on what Jeff Fisher has left to see.

Fisher says starters will play first half and some will play into third quarter vs. Saints.

I just don't see Chris Johnson staying in too long, maybe they'll keep him in until he breaks a big run. Gage's thumb needs to heal, so there is no need to risk further injury to it. So if he plays I wouldn't want to see him in their too long. I didn't hear anything about a Washington injury.

Knowing Jeff Fisher, he is not a big risk taker. So if anyone has an injury that is still healing, I don't think he'll keep them in the game for too long.
