LeGarrette Blount picked up by Tampa Bay

  • This news is a little delayed, but the Tennessee Titans tried to sneak LeGarrette Blount past waivers and were unsuccessful. Blount was picked up by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and put on their 53 man roster.

Blount will add depth to a thin backfield in Tampa. Cadillac Williams is the definite starter with Kareem Huggins, Kregg Lumpkin, and Blount all working toward being the backup.

This leaves the Titans backfield unbelievably thin as they cut Samkon Gado as well earlier in the week. The Titans did pick up Herb Donaldson after the Dallas Cowboys dropped him.

Donaldson was a Walter Peyton Award Candidate in 2008 at Western Illionois. He hasn't accomplished anything in the NFL, but the Titans obviously saw something they liked.

If Chris Johnson or Javon Ringer go down with an injury look for the Titans to pick someone off free agency before turning toward Donaldson. It will be interesting to see if the Titans stick with two runningbacks for most of the season.
