247Sports: Your team all the time.
Didn't think they would go receiver in the first-round, but I love the pick. Wright was super productive in college at Baylor.
This was by far the dumbest pick of the first round. We have Britt, Washington, Williams, Hawkins, and Mariani. If there was one position on our team that DID NOT deserve any consideration whatsoever in the First Round, it was WR!!! It is mind boggling. Our team needs are very well defined: DE, OG/C, FS/SS/CB, OLB. We passed on Mercilus, Jones, DeCastro (all guys who would have made IMMEDIATE and CLEAR impacts on our team) and instead took a guy who we didn't need and doesn't make us any better.
DeCastro was rated as the top offensive lineman (or either as equal to Matt Kalil) by many draft experts who was only devalued because he plays OG and not OT. A guy we could plug in IMMEDIATELY to get our running game back to where it needs to be.
Reinfeldt needs to get back into the GM position. Webster has flunked his VERY FIRST PICK.
Started at the bottom, now we here.....better get used to it.
What does nm mean? nevermind?
While I disagree with AUHeisman that we do not need receivers, I do agree we have bigger needs. I mean, I believe Britt is solid, Washington is serviceable, Mariani should be good enough for a backup role, and Williams seems to be coming along now, I also believe Wright is a big time playmaker our offense could most definitely use. Locker, CJ, Britt, Wright, and Cook sounds a little scarier than what we had.
Anyway, I'm content with this pick and I think he'll be a solid pro. Wright put up some numbers while at Baylor, and produced more and more as he progressed through college. 4yr (injury-free) players are a definite plus! I haven't heard much negative about the guy. Does he have any character concerns? Is he a good blocker? Maybe those are questions better suited for a Baylor fan but I did read however, something positive, that Wright had fewer drops last year than both Blackmon and Floyd. Also, some had him pegged as the most explosive receiver in the draft. I imagine he'll be able to help.... (i.e. stretch the field, pull safeties away from the line of scrimmage, give Britt a little breathing room, CJ too, Locker three...) Let's face it, our offense needed another big time guy. This should help us put up more points. And hey, a good offense is a good defense, No??
Now, I think we could have gotten that big time playmaking receiver in a later round, as I mentioned in another thread, I think this draft is loaded with wideouts. So should we have addressed our bigger needs first? Probably. When guys like DeCastro, Upshaw, Mercilus, and Glenn are all still available, and are considerably better than their later-round counterparts, drafting Wright MAY have been a mistake. BUT, a small one. We'll be fine. I dont believe we F'd up our draft..
Now lets address this defense! I'm looking forward to Day 2! Any chance we can trade up for Upshaw??
EDIT: Here is a good highlight video, I'll post the link. I also just read a couple of nice comments about him: has the best separation of anyone in the draft. adjusts extraordinarily well. (they were saying separation is huge in the NFL)

Once again I am glad fans dont make draft selections, 99% of you just spout of crap you heard from mel kipper. Bottom line you select the top guy on your board forget about needs, needs lead to reaches and to busts.
I just payed a nice visit over on the Baylor board. They had extremely high praise for Wright and have convinced me he is gonna pan out just fine!
Hey guys, congrats on the double 1st-rounders! [cheers] Wish my university could say the same....[grumble]
I figured you guys are the r
