Cook seeking a trade?

  • Wyatt just threw that out there. The deadline is tomorrow. The Titans would be crazy to trade him.

  • I was under the impression another team was wanting Cook not that Cook wanted a trade but Wyatt's story doesn't really specify. Hopefully Terry will find out something.

  • In an unrelated note, the league has announced that the trade deadline has been extended by two days to Thursday at 4 PM EST.

  • IF Cookie is feeling under-used and is un happy and is not playing on running downs, then why not trade him for a pick? ONLY a 1st or 2nd at the least, but we could use some top picks to re-load.Why have a potential cancer to the lockerroom. He is in the last year of his deal.

  • This is done by the agent as a ploy to let the Titans know Cook is not happy with his role. I spoke to Cook a couple of weeks ago. He desperately wants to stay and wants a contract extension.

Agents do this to stir things up. No way Titans trade Cook.

Same thing happened a few years ago when I got wind that Peter Sirmon had requested a trade. It was just to let the Titans know they were unhappy with the situation, which involved at the time the signing of David Thornton.

    Terry,

Why isn't Palmer gettting Cook more snaps? It baffles me the number that he's gotten so far this season.

  • Thank You very much for the inside info Terry it is much appreciated by us die hard Titan fans.Relieved to hear Cookie just feels he can help team more than he is currently being used. The league has become a week to week matchup situation.

  • Good info, Terry.

I wonder if Jared is worried the Titans are doing this on purpose knowing this is a contract year. Minimize his role, give him a lowball offer due to his "production". Just a theory.

Good theory. I wonder how well T. Thompson is developing. He "could" be a source of leverage for the contract talks with Cook.

Could be but I think if he was a better blocker he would play more. As it is now if the Titans need to have a blocking TE in the game it isn't Cook. I don't think they are looking to low ball him on a new contract because there would be other teams wanting him and they will franchise him if they can't sign him and that won't be cheap.

The more I think about Cook the more you may be right on the money. Cook is a decent weapon to have that has massive potential, but he hasn't proven that he can live up to his potential consistently. Stevens is about as good as a blocking TE can be and can catch a few balls now and again. Thompson may have the same kind of potential as Cook.....and if we get a very high draft pick or a combination of draft picks to fulfill our other needs the benefit may very easily outweigh the cost of losing him.

  • The Titans would be crazy to deal Cook IMO. He is their most explosive offensive weapon, and chances are he knows this. The Titans have taken to using the fullback more to improve the run game, and it has worked, but at the expense of Cook's reps. That plus the lack of a contract talk apparently has Cook frustrated.
