  • Got an e-mail from James and he said I could post this.

    "Titans Central is pleased to announce an alliance with TitanInsider where the message board forums will be merged into one board on 247Sports. For long-time Titans Central members, access to the main message board forum will continue to be free.

    Everyone will have an opportunity to join the exclusive content membership rights that pertain to TitanInsider premium content. In terms of moderation of the new merged board, moderators under the previous Titans Central message board will be transferred to the new board.

    Thank you for your longtime support and we apologize for the delay in getting the new arrangement organized. Our "lockout" so to speak has been resolved. Now, it's the NFL and NFLPA's turn.

    Let me say to one and all, welcome to TitanInsider.

    I have gotten to know many of you through the board at TitansCentral over the years and am looking forward to us continuing the spirited and thoughtful conversations that were the norm at TitansCentral over here at TitanInsider. Thanks to James and Scotty for helping make this happen and also to Kevin, Shannon and the folks here at 247sports.com for their hard work as well.

    I know some of you may have reservations about leaving behind the old board format and the way things were done at TitansCentral, but let me assure you, the same things that made the old board must viewing for Titans fans will be in place here - plus all the latest technological whistles and bells and as much Insider scoop as Darren and I can get out to you.

    The things that made TC great (VY and Fisher debates, Bongo's rumors being shot down, etc.) can now have a home right here. The same board moderators who were at TC will be doing the same functions here with us, and I for one am glad that TitansCentral gets the chance to be revived here, as we continue the best Titans analysis and conversations on the Internet.

    If anyone has any questions regarding the merge or the Titans related questions, feel free to chime and and Darren and I and the 247 staff will do our best to provide answers for you. Eventually, 247sports has ideas of developing other NFL news/fan communities where professional journalists and educated and rabid fans combine their knowledge and insight, much as is being done on their college sites now. Let's show them how it's done with this board here at TitanInsider with the most educated and knowledgeable Titans fans from TC invading the boards here at TI.

    You know that I'm a fan of your work and expertise when it comes to the franchise that I love, seeing as you are always one of the first media members that I tweet whenever I have a Titans-related question and you almost always reply. I have a few questions for you with all of the hoopla surrounded our "merger" with your site.

    1.) The board design is not appealing. Yes, it has those little cool features, but the first thing that drew all of us to Titanscentral was the layout of the board, and how easy everything was to view. Would you be willing to work with us in improving this boards design?

    2.) Since we would, in all honestly, be the catalyst that got this board going, would you be willing to do a weekly Q&A or something to that effect with us? I'm not sure if you do anything like that now. I know you answer questions in the threads and such, but maybe some kind of chat thing that would allow ease-of-use.

    3.) Moderation. At Titanscentral, we were pretty much free-willed to say whatever we wanted (to an understandable degree) without any type of banning or such. Would moderation be similar over here? I know that there would be restrictions, but what would our limits be?

    I know this is all spur-of-the-moment and a lot of guys are upset about how everything has happened, but it would ease some minds if you can answer these questions for us. Thanks Terry.

    #2 would be a great idea and could potentially be a nice incentive for people to move over. Perhaps a weekly mailbag (members submit question through PM) and you could answer 5 or more per week that would be freely available? Or even better, a Cover-It-Live type weekly chat like Kuharsky and Wyatt.

    There are a number of posters at TC right now who are very passionate fans that add a lot of valuable content on their own (statistical breakdowns, post video, etc) that are nearly on par with what some paysites are attempting to offer yet they do it all for free. Maybe in return for what the TC group brings in terms of user-generated content and board vitality, Terry and Darren could commit to a weekly chat/Q&A that doesn't devalue your service but demonstrates to TC members that they wouldn't be breaking up their board for a few admin rights.

    P.S. That's not meant to be a slight to you Terry for the free stuff you've posted. As anyone can see I registered with this board long ago and think that this board has some really quality info on it, even for free users. However, I think many users are worried about a bait and switch with 24/7 Sports where they would continue to clamp down on more and more info once the board has a larger community base. A weekly commitment might go a LONG way for many users.

    Thanks for your honesty and candor. Here goes on your questions:
    1) The board design is handled by the 247 guys, but I am not opposed to tweaking it somewhat. The TitanInsider home page is much like all the other ones on the site, sort of a cookie cutter. Perhaps they can tinker with a few things on the board down the line. But really that is more of a question for the tech guys.
    2) Certainly, I would be willing to do a Q&A on a fairly regular basis. During the season, we hosted chats nearly every week here where I answered questions. Right now with the lockout, all bets content-wise are pretty much off. But once things get going again, I see no reason why that won't start back up and again be a regular feature of the site.
    3) You won't see me (hopefully) engaged in too much raucous behavior on the boards, but I understand that fans are very passionate about their beliefs and loyalties. Feel free to get into some spirited debate, but I'd rather it not turn into a name-calling fest or "f bombs" flying everywhere.

    We have no problem at all with a weekly chat or answering questions. In fact, access to guys like Darren and myself who are fortunate enough to have access to players, coaches, team officials, etc., is one of the essential building blocks of this site and how we hope to grow things around here.

    IMO, it is all about supply and demand. Make it easy on me. Give me a Blackberry, iPhone and Droid ap so I can see insider post (I use BB btw) from my smart phone so I can see current stuff on my time. I give two craps about the annoying twitter.

We could find a new host and do it all over again and take our chances and that was considered. The other option that popped up was migrating over here.

    From our perspective, the benefits of doing so were plentiful. The forum message board is free for all members so any idea of charging people to continue in this form of Titans Central is not the case. In addition, Titans Insider offered moderator status to our existing moderators. Also, we know Terry very well and he's contributed to our site many times over the years. Lastly, this site is also dedicated to the Titans and the NFL, which made it a great fit with what we set out to do with Titans Central.

    The downside - perhaps a little less control over the non-football posts and that's fine with me. If anything, that was a big negative in recent years.

    Back to the basics of the Titans. Both Oilerman and I are pleased to be here and hopeful that some of the misconceptions out there won't split the board.
