Former coach turned analyst says being released could be needed wake-up call for troubled receiver.
TitanInsider: Any closer and you'd be in the huddle.
Britt needs a wake up call no doubt. He is getting a pass because of the acl and his contract.Cutting him now may benefit him, but if he matures and blows up for his next team, the Titans will be slammed for not giving him time to develop. Most of Munches problems are coming from players he didn't draft.
The Titans have plenty of cap space to play with. If I were the Titans, I would let Britt play out his contract......since it's less than $900,000 for next yr.......tell him that if he doesn't shape up then they may let him go. Then either offer him or don't. If you offer him, offer at a much less price than his play is worth......and load it with conduct provisos. Make it his choice to sign or go with another team. The fan base couldn't slam the organization if it was his choice to leave.
Whatever the case may be for Britt, as an organization you have to look at receivers. Maybe you have to replace Britt, maybe you don't. But you absolutely need to bolster the receiving corps.....might as well start now and look for the next great Titan receiver. I wouldn't spend a top draft pick just yet, but there have been guys like Colston who have gone in the later rds.
Another reason Edwards isn't a head coach any more........
