Fisher press conference injury update

They almost always keep eight linemen. I personally would find it difficult for them to part with Kropog so soon, given that he's a fourth-round pick from a year ago. If Kropog and Otto (who can also play guard) both make it, then the last spot comes down to Fernando Velasco, Matthews and Durand. My money is on Velasco of that bunch with Matthews on the practice squad.

TitanInsider Injury Update: Mike Otto may miss some time with a sprained knee suffered last night.
Pete Ittersagen (concussion) will be held out this week.
Derrick Morgan is close to returning from his calf injury. He likely plays vs. Carolina, but won't take part in Wednesday practice with the Cardinals.
Fisher said Gage, Finnegan, Allred and Ford all have a chance to play.
Hayes, Brown, Thornton are still out this week.

TitanInsider: Any closer and you'd be in the huddle.

  • Terry-in your opinion will Hayes and/or Brown be ready for week 1?

  • Hayes has said he will be ready to go by the opener and he's now walking without a limp. I think Brown will be ready to go but I have to admit I thought he would be back long before now. The injury involved some clean-up where blood from another muscle injury had seeped down into the knee area, according to Brown, so I'm really surprised it has taken this long. But keep in mind, they wouldn't have given him $17m over three years if they thought this injury was anything serious.

With the way our defensive line has played, I wouldn't be surprised to see Hayes held out of the first game or if he is put in, not as many plays as normal. Jacob Ford, Derrick Morgan, Jason Babin, Dave Ball, and Raheem Brock can all get the job done (Assuming they keep all 6). There is no reason to risk injurying Hayes further. If he's not at 100% I wouldn't expect him to play much.

That being said, since he's no longer walking with a limp week 2 should be the absolute latest he will get in a game.

  • Thornton has to be gone, right? Have you guys heard anything to the contrary?

That is the 4 million dollar question. Fisher finally admitted that Thornton may not be ready for the season opener (we've suspected that a good while now). This McRath suspension really throws a wrinkle into the mix. If Thornton isn't close.....decisions....decisions....decisions.

  • Just got update that Derrick Morgan is on the field today in shoulder pads... good sign?

  • Yes, he did individual work. I think he has a chance to play in Carolina.
