I don't think I would go that far. In the case of Ayers. Often times he is out of position or hesitant to decipher the offense's play. By the time he has made a decision on where to go, he has to make a tackle at a bad angle.....which makes it tougher. This is true for many of our young guys. Remember that of our starters and people that play alot: Casey, Martin, Morgan, Ayers, General MacArthur, Zach Brown, ATV, and Court.......all are very young. This happens a lot.
Also. Going back to Ayers. I have seen on numerous occasions where he tries to go for a knock-out blow. He balls his forearms up in front of him, trying to turn himself into a cannonball. He drills the RB, but the RB is good enough to bounce right off of him. This isn't the college league anymore where Ayers can knock down a RB with that kind of tackle. Fundamentals are a must. If you don't put one arm each through the armpits of the offensive guy, or around the waist, or wrap up their legs.....they will make you look foolish.
I think most of my problem is with the secondary and namely Griffin. He is getting fined for horse collar tackles and I have to ask myself WHY he continually trys to tackle guys high.He needs to learn form tackling.I am actually encouraged by the younger guys.Ayers,Brown,Casey,Mccarthy, they are playing well and developing nicely. Its just going to take time and patience.
Totally agree, and I hope we do everything we can to improve the O and D lines in free agency and the draft. The Eagles have a ton of talent at skill positions and NO offensive line.No running game and no time to find the open wr.On defense it is almost impossible to cover anyone in this league when you can't put pressure on the qb.
