Is Albert Haynesworth coming back to Tennessee?

  • If someone named Albert Haynesworth does become a Titan, it wouldn't be the Albert Haynesworth that left in free agency.

  • Interesting...

DT is actually a position that I feel is in good shape, but if Haynesworth can be a team player, we know what he can do if he is motivated...

Something funny about 4th round picks though: we have drafted a lot of talent in the 4th round: Stewart, Fuller, Tulloch, Harris, Hayes, Hawkins, McRath, (don't know yet about Kropog), and of course Verner. The Titans have done a good job in the 4th round "building through the draft." Haynesworth is such a nightmare now for the Redskins, I would prefer a price that is less than a 4th rounder given that DT is in good shape. The Redskins might get close to being desperate, if they aren't so already.

Don't forget Derrick Mason in the 4th rd. I was just having this conversation yesterday, at the Titans facility, after practice. For whatever reason, that round has been very good to them. The thought of Jason Jones, Haynesworth, T. Brown, Ford, Hayes, Marks, and Morgan all on the DL line should get people excited!

  • If we go off of history, we should give a 3rd instead of 4th. We aren't so smart in the 3rd.

  • I think it will happen, unless another team becomes involved.....Redskins are desperate to rid themselves of the cancer AH is causing, if the Titans hold out and no one else offers then the Skins will give in just to get rid of his garbage.

  • As a Titans fan you have to hope this happens but not at an exorbitant cost. It would be exciting to get him back, and I hope that Reinfeldt is able to come to terms with a reasonable trade offer.

Haynesworth is a disruptive guy that teams have to scheme around and it looks like the Titans may already have a better defensive line than they expected. I think a 3rd round pick would be the absolute most the Titans should offer. A fourth would obviously be ideal and I think Reinfeldt is wise to try and hardball the Redskins.

  • What makes anybody think Haynesworth will work harder here than Washington? He has already been paid and the only good years he had with us were contract years. I remember when he left several players commented that he was not a good lockeroom guy.

  • Actually, when he left many Titans fans thought it was a bummer, but an ok bummer because he wasn't likely to be motivated once paid. That proved true.

I think it is a risk that he will ever again be the guy he was, but being the butt of jokes and getting all this bad press may be the motivation he would never have otherwise had.

  • A lot of real good points on here but something to keep in mind, for whatever reason, Coach Washburn had the "Midas Touch" with Albert. They really clashed early on in his career but I think over time, Albert began to really understand and respect Washburn. The message seemed to be getting through. Obviously there would be no assurances that this would be one Big, Happy family if it happened but it has a much better chance here than in Washington.

  • Wow. The thought of Albert coming back would be a tremendous pick up for us. Giving up a 4th round pick for a 2 time Pro Bowler would be a good pick up. You have to think, just by having Albert, it would take alot of pressure off our LBs. Now lets be honest, with McGrath out, Allred is a good special teams player at best. Everyone of our LBs besides McGrath, Tulloch, and Witherspoon are special teamers. We really don't have the next up and coming LB there. So by having Albert, he can eat up that double team and allow our LBs to go to work. Even though the 4th round has been good to us, I still think its worth getting Albert at a bargain price. And Albert will play here. He wants to be here. 1. he has something to prove. 2. he likes playing for fisher and washburn.

I would certainly agree on the LB part. The Titans are thin there, for the first time in a while, and there is nothing like masking a problem on defense with pressure up front. That always tends to cure a lot of things. I could get use to seeing Jason Jones and Haynesworth reaking havoc on Sunday's.

  • I also agree about the LB part. An injury to Tully or Witherspoon would be very bad. However, if they stay healthy, we could spend a lot of time in the nickel - where we could even contemplate rotating Fuller and Verner as NB. I don't think that would be a bad way to go.
