How about McNabb in Nashville?

Would be a good mentor for Jake IMO. Similar styles of play, too. Could keep the offense the same for each.

  • I think it is the perfect fit for us. As mentioned previously, they have similar styles of play and McNabb has shown to be a good mentor to several young players: Vick, Kolb, and even OchoCinco.

Finding the proper mentor for Locker should be the most crucial aspect as we select a vet QB IMO.

  • There are some in the Titans organization who would not be opposed to going after McNabb as a stop-gap quarterback.

TitanInsider: Any closer and you'd be in the huddle.

  • I don't like the idea. McNabb is too much of a gunslinger for my liking. If you are getting a mentor for Locker, I say get someone who can teach him in his weakest areas, such as accuracy. That doesn't mean you get a totally different style QB; just someone who is similar but more accurate. Carson Palmer or Matt Hasselbeck come to mind. Taking the lockout into account, I don't see us getting a new vet QB. I think we'll stick with KFC for the first five or six games. He should be fine as a stop gap and won't mind being benched since he wants to retire anyways.

Would one of those be Reinfeldt by chance?

It will be Chris Palmer's and Dowell Loggains job to get more improved accuracy out of Locker, not the vet QB we bring in. We want a vet that will teach him good study and work habits on and off the field. McNabb has proven his ability to be a good mentor. Palmer and Hasselbeck? Not so much.

McNabb has also proven his ability to be out of shape and overconfident. I'd rather go with a less-polished QB who can lead by example, such as Hasselbeck, Palmer, or KFC.
