Inside the Huddle: Fisher versus the rest

Are these last three games the determining factor for another season?

  • What is amazing to me is that he has outlasted Super Bowl winning coaches, Mike Shanahan, Jon Gruden and Brian Billick. And I don't understand and I have not heard ONE good explanation as to why he is considered such a good coach nationally. It has to be tenure, because it certainly isn't results. I appreciated Israel Gutierrez calling him out on the Sports Reporters Sunday. Jeff always gets a pass from the media. All I hear is a bucket of excuses from Jeff, injuries, QB issues, blah, blah. The Patriots and Colt win with nobodies, why can't we win with somebodies?

Only difference I can see between us and the Colts and the Patriots is that they have the best QBs in the NFL, while we have very little talent at QB right now.

  • I've grown tired of Fisher, but let's be honest. It seems like quite the coincidence that the best coaches all seem to have the best QB's. Is Belichick that great of a coach, or is it mostly Tom Brady? Same goes for Dungy and Peyton Manning, or Sean Payton with Drew Brees, or Mike Tomlin with Roethlisberger, or Mike Shanahan with John Elway. The list goes on. Brian Billick and Jon Gruden benefited from two of the best defenses this decade, but that path to the SB is becoming less common due in part to the offense-friendly rule changes.

My beef with Fisher is his refusal to adapt to the current-day NFL and his tired rhetoric.

Are we sure Tom Brady, Phillip Rivers, Peyton Manning or Drew Brees would ever flourish in this offense?
I have a feeling with Fisher at the helm, just like wide receivers, nothing would change!

I would tend to agree with you.

I can't wait 'til the coaching search starts. As everyone knows, Nashville has never had a professional coaching search (unless you count the initial hiring of Trotz).

ITA, he kept Steve McNair pretty contained until the defense fell apart completely. I would feel sorry for an elite QB under Fish.

  • That's what is really scary about this team right now......NO FRANCHISE QB! You can't survive in the NFL today without one. Look what happened to the Arizona Cardinals when Kurt Warner retired? Completely irrelevant now. Look at the Atlanta Falcons after they drafted Matt Ryan or now the Rams, who have been a doormat for years, with Sam Bradford. The days of Rex Grossman, Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson taking teams to the Super Bowl are OVER. Look at last years Super Bowl matchup.....Brees vs Manning. Coincidence, I think not.cheers

    Totally agree with this.

We seriously to draft a REAL franchise QB, if we get a actual I can seriously see us being good again.
