  • I agree with him. History has shown the Titans haven't paid to keep their best players.

    That honestly was such a compelling argument, this part may push me over the top in being tired of how the organization is ran and move on.

    ...If you’re a Titans fan these days, realize that if a team is willing to do this to its top two players, there is absolutely no commitment to win. There is a reason why the franchise (formerly the Houston Oilers) has gone 49 seasons since winning a championship (the Oilers won the AFL in the league’s first two seasons) and has appeared in the Super Bowl only once. Under the guidance of owner Bud “Bottom Line” Adams, the Titans don’t care about winning – at least not on the field.

    When it comes to contracts, the Titans win constantly. They browbeat and batter players into bad deals, or simply use up players and then discard them in a display of utter disrespect.

    Want proof? Look no further than the late Steve McNair, the greatest player in Titans history and perhaps the greatest in overall franchise history, depending on how you compare him to Earl Campbell (personally, Campbell gets the nod, but McNair was pretty great)....

  • The way Courtland has played the last 2 years I don't think he is worth elite money. To say he is one of the best corners is not true. He is really good when he plays within himself like he did early in his career. I believe Chris is due a new contract as the highest paid RB in the league. In the article that is referenced, I not sure of a player the Titans have browbeat and battered into a bad deal or simply used up and then discarded them in a display of utter disrespect. Everyone knows that when they let Mason and that group of players go it was because of mismanagement of the cap and not beiong a cheap team.

  • I don't get why CJ won't come to Nashville and work on this. If someone offered me $30 million if I'd meet with them at the North Pole I'd be on the next dog sled out of Fairbanks.

  • They do not divorce well but the Oilers/Titans also paid guys. Moon was the highest paid player when he signed from the CFL. In the late 80's/early 90's they had the top one or two payrolls in the NFL.

    They paid Eddie George and McNair huge contracts in their prime. They paid Matthews top dollar for years. Carter got a huge deal when they traded for him.

    The problem with CJ in part is his position. RB's don't have huge shelf lives and they were totally burned by Eddie's contract. The flip side of that is that CJ is an impact player who is vastly underpaid.

    The Titans need to make an offer to CJ to start the negotiating IMO.

    Name the starting rb on these 10 teams. I can't get most of them, my point being a QB and his receiving core seems to be the most important aspect at this time in the NFL. So maybe winning translates to having a franchise qb and lots of passing weapons.

    Yes, QB is obviously the most important position but can you give examples of Indy, Giants, Pittsburgh, or Green Bay letting their best players walk?

  • I think everyone will agree that CJ deserves top RB money. That's what the Titans are offering. I wish they would meet in some neutral site to do the negoiating. I don't think he should expect and I don't think the Titans will pay him QB money. Let's just get the 2 sides together, do a deal and let's get on to talking about football!!!!!

  • CJ isn't looking for QB money - but top player money.

    Even Kuharsky sees CJ is right. He disagrees with Cole on Finnegan (saying Roos is 2nd best) but in impact Finnegan has done more.

  • Kuharsky says the Titans should send him an offer and I agree. I don't think they should really make him come here. He says he wants "Top Playmaker Money". He should be paid the top money for his position. Finnegan has really not had a very big impact the last couple of years except in getting called for penalties. Kuharsky said he wasn't mistreated when the Titans made him an offer and that he certainly didn't deserve top CB money. To the Titans I say - send CJ an offer making him the highest paid RB and lets get a deal done.
