Mario Williams update

  • As I tweeted the other day, the talks between the Texans and Mario Williams have not progressed. Spoke to John McClain here at the Combine and he thinks Williams will get to the open market.

TitanInsider: Any closer and you'd be in the huddle.

  • I can't see the Titans outbidding other teams for Mario Williams. I'd love to have him here with the Titans, but if there are other teams involved in the bidding war for Williams, the Titans will bow out quickly. And then they'll more than likely move on to the Shaun Smiths and Barret Ruuds of the Free Agency pool. We all know that $10+ million ( $7.25 million for Smith and $4 million for Rudd) was well spent.

I agree with you that the Titans will not be outbidding for Williams. I think Robert Mathis makes more sense for cap reasons.
