Why is the NHL supporting the NFL? The quick answer is precedent.
Not surprised in the least. The more surprising thing is that the NBA and MLB haven't followed suit (no pun intended!). Once some of the stuff the NFLPA's* lawyers came out with, my first thought was that all other professional sports leagues in the US would be bricking it. If De Smith and Co. resort to litigation and are successful, competitiveness in American sports is OVER.
