Patrick Bailey

  • Apparently the guy was a defensive end at Duke, and the steelers converted him to a 3-4 linebacker. I realize he's going to be primarily a special teams player, but how will he fit in as 4-3 linebacker? are they planning to use him at linebacker or defensive end?

  • My guess is he'll be tried at LB first. His main role will be on special teams. Truth is, if he sees the field at LB, the Titans are probably in trouble, given that both Allred and Winborn are ahead of him by default right now.

  • Yeah, I'd imagine that Allred, Winborn, and Curran would all 3 be ahead of both bailey and shaw.

  • I think it's worth the pickup just for special teams I have followed the Steelers for years also and he was always making a stop on special teams. Thats really the only reason he stayed with them for that long.

Sounds like he's somewhat of a Rocky Boiman type, a special teams demon who could never really find a regular position on the field, but manages to hang around a long time just for his ability to cover kicks. Sort of your football version of a left-handed reliever.
