Steeler week is back, and so is the wig that represents the flowing locks of Pittsburgh safety Troy Polamalu is back on the Titans practice field as well.
The “tradition” of a scout team defensive player donning the wig to help the offense prepare for the Steelers star began in 2008 when Tuff Harris wore it.
For the past two years, it has been donned by veteran backup safety Donnie Nickey, who wore it again on Wednesday.
Asked about the wig, Nickey said, “It itches. It kind of gets stuck to my bald head. I’ll get home tonight and I’ll have a long little piece of polyester hair on me.”
