Ray Edwards

  • Would the Titans consider picking up Edwards if he is indeed a FA after the lockout?

  • I've always liked Edwards, but I'm always a little leery of veteran players, especially on defense, being used up and past their prime.

TitanInsider: Any closer and you'd be in the huddle.

With what they did in the draft I don't see that happening. Remember Morgan is like a new addition since he got injured early last season.

  • Not being a smart butt but do you think Edwards is already pasted his prime? He's only 26. I could see him being productive for several more years.

No, not at all, but from the way it sounds, the Vikings aren't making a real serious push to keep him and believe they need to upgrade over him, from what I read somewhere. That said, I thought Edwards played really well in the playoffs the year the Vikes went to the NFC title game.

  • I think he would be a good vet option. We desperately need depth and size on the DL. Edwards has good size for the new scheme and still has some upside. I'd sign him if the price is right.

  • Honestly, I'm not sure if the Titans will be willing to pay Edwards what he might be looking for. I have the feeling that Edwards will find his way to the Falcons when all is said and done. Personally, I wouldn't mind the Titans pursuing DE Mathias Kiwanuka to play Right DE if he was cleared medically. He's not necessarily big (6-5 265 maybe 270) but he's played well for his size and could be a versatile player for Gray. Morgan could hold down the LDE where his size/speed combination over the RT would allow him to play the run and rush the passer with a lot of effectiveness.
