Reports say Locker inconsistent on first day

Washington quarterback hopes to hush his critics with strong showing this week at Senior Bowl.

  • Haha ... he was inconsistent ALL SEASON. At what point do people quit saying he's inconsistent and just label him as a "not very good quarterback"? This is why athletes should not go back to school if they are projected to be top 5 draft picks. I wonder if he will drop out of the first round.

Gotta agree with Colten on this one.

I still like Locker's physical tools even though he has been a bit inconsistent, but yes, he probably made a mistake money-wise by not coming out for the draft last year. From what I hear, though, he is a lot like Jay Cutler (no, he's not standing on the sideline in a parka with a bum knee) in that he was a superior skill guy and it didn't always show through because the supporting cast for the Huskies was terrible. Wonder if there are any Pac-10 fans who can talk on this matter on this board. Unlike Cutler, he is supposedly very coachable and is a real good guy who says and does the right things.
Still, I can see the question marks and Locker has to answer them before the draft or he could do a Jimmy Clausen slide on draft weekend.

  • Solid arm, but poor decision making ability, which a lot of NFL scouts will tell you is a real measuring stick for the NFL. Not saying he couldn't be a great quarterback in the NFL, because athletically he is great, but personally I doubt he will have great success and I don't think there is anyway he makes an immediate impact anywhere. Unless he can improve his consistency, I agree with your statement he could have a "Jimmy Clausen" like slide at the draft.

  • Thanks for the input. It sounds like Locker has a lot of work to do to refine his game, even if the talent is there.

  • Well if he is predicted to drop to atleast the second round I say take Von Miller with the first pick and take Locker in the second. Get a free agent QB and let Locker learn. I'm looking to get either Mallet or Locker in this draft I have high expectation for them both.
