Titans rookie receivers Damian Williams and Marc Mariani made the most of their opportunities in Monday night's 24-10 win over Arizona.
Williams, seeing his first action after battling a hamstring injury, led the Titans with four catches for 44 yards. He also returned kicks in the first half, averaging 26.5 yards on two kickoffs and six yards on a pair of punt returns.
“I've still got a lot of work to do, but it felt good to just get out there and run around a little bit and catch a couple of balls and get involved in the return game and contribute, period,” Williams, a third-round pick said.
He admits he was hopeful of breaking a long return in his first game, but it didn't happen.
“Everybody has a dream of hitting a home run the first time at the plate, and I'd be lying to you if I said I didn't want to do it in every facet of the game,” he said.
Actually, it did for Mariani, who broke a 60-yard kickoff return in the second half.
“It wasn't exactly how we drew it up, but coaches always tell you hit it fast and as hard as you can and just go from there. I just saw an opening and tried to get around the corner, and it opened up,” Mariani said.
Mariani, a seventh-round pick from Montana, also had a 10-yard pass reception.
